New Goth Links for November 9, 2011

DARK ANIMATION:

Dr. Shroud, the Animated Series

A really interesting, morbidly playful web series from 2005. Dr. Shroud is a reformed vampire who is a plastic surgeon and vampire killer. You can watch the episodes on Newgrounds and on YouTube.

DARK COMMUNITIES:

The Alterium

A social network for the alternative, goth and fetish lifestyles. It appears to be run on the Ning platform. There are blogs, groups, events and a section for music.

Vampire Social

A fairly large and active vampire social network that also looks like it's run on Ning. Lots of groups, and very active forums. There's also a bit of a focus on vampire dating here.

DARK MOVIES:

William Castle's Blog

Legendary horror filmmaker of the 1950s and 1960s blogs about his current projects. He recently announced that his daughter Terry is taking over William Castle Productions.

Del Toro Films

A fan site for dark director and author Guillermo del Toro. His films include the lavishly dark and beautiful Pan's Labyrinth, Hellboy, Blade 2, Mimic and several other in the dark and horror genres.

The fan site offers news on everything he's up to (I'm looking forward to his final book in the Strain Trilogy: The Night Eternal), plus an active discussion forum.

DARK SHOPS:

Evil Pawn Jewelry

This shop sells really cool skull cameo designs on rings, bracelets, necklaces and earrings. They also sell vintage style goth necklaces, elegant hair combs, and unusual skull and pirate engagement rings. Truly gorgeous things here.

http://www.evilpawnjewelry.com/

A shop selling adorably spooky goodies including skull-bedecked baby bibs; Frankenstein aprons; bat and skull kitchen mitts, pot holders and kitchen towels; monster and vampire pillows; tote bags and hats with dark and horror themes.

It makes me nervous that the copyright notice says 2008 though - is this shop still open? I'd suggest using the contact link to verify before purchasing anything.
