Best of the Dark Side: 13 Spookiest Goth and Horror Movie Links N-Z

1. 9

I actually really disliked this movie and wanted to walk out, though I understand a lot of Tim Burton fans enjoyed it. But this website is super cool. I can't believe how much planning and time went into it and the Facebook marketing page for the film. Still lots to see here, a year after the film's 9/9/09 release.

2. Nightmare Before Christmas

A longrunning fantastic fan site for the film. Currently the blog features lots of cool cover songs and NMBC mashup videos. The site also provides lyrics, photos, info on the characters, and a transcript of the film.

3. Pumpkin Patch

Another Nightmare Before Christmas fan site. I'm including this one because of the beautiful site design, and because of all the cool goodies offered here. MP3s, screencaps, avatars, NMBC desktop wallpapers, game reviews, and active forums.

4. Pan's Labyrinth

Stunningly beautiful website for the film. I'm normally not at all a fan of websites that blare music at you the instant you visit, but the music here really sets the mood. The typical official site offerings are here: desktop wallpapers, behind-the-scenes peeks, etc.

5. Phantasm

I miss the old "Lament Configuration" website, so this official site will have to do for your Phantasm related web surfing needs. The Tall Man's Mausoleum offers nice pics of the cast members, blog posts provide occasional news on the films, and there are pages with info on each of the four films. Good for nostalgia.

6. Poltergeist

Maybe not the most comprehensive resource for Poltergeist films out there, but a blog with well thought out posts on the history of making these films. Behind-the-scenes info and anecdotes, and some trivia.

7. Amas Veritas

An extremely clean, well organized, nicely done fan site for the film Practical Magic. (Yeah, I know it's not a horror movie, but I'm including it here because it's dark, beautiful, and intelligent). Amas Veritas has always been my perfect dream example of an excellent movie fansite. Be sure to stop by the Fan art section if you like that sort of thing.

8. The Psycho Movies

There are a damn lot of these sequels, so the webmaster here had a lot of work on their hands. Each film has cast/crew info, music/audio files, a photo gallery, behind-the-scenes info, and videos if applicable. A great resource for fans of the films.

9. Resident Evil

Info on the multiple Resident Evil movies. It's hard to find a page just devoted to the films, not the multitude of video games, comics, merchandise and other goodies.

10. The Ring

No longer updated, but if you're a fan of the Ring series of movies, you might enjoy a nostalgic visit here.

11. Silent Hill

A fairly active Livejournal community for the game-based films.

12. The Shining

Probably my favorite horror film. Let's face it, there aren't any good comprehensive fan sites out there devoted to the film. Here's a nice overview with tons of interesting trivia, however.

13. Sweeney Todd

An elaborate fansite for the Johnny Depp slasher movie. With beautiful music to listen to while you look around.
