Siouxsie Week: The Infamous Alice in Wonderland Play at Home Special

In 1984, the UK's Channel Four aired this Play at Home Special featuring Siouxsie and Robert Smith, who was currently a member of the Banshees.

Nearly an hour long, it's a trippy Alice in Wonderland video that makes you fairly certain everyone involved was on massive quantities of acid before, during and after the filming.

There are musical performances, and you can see Siouxsie and other band members dressed up for the Mad Tea Party in hideous blonde wigs. At one point, for some reason, Siouxsie is dressed up as.. a drum majorette? I have to confess, I haven't watched this all the way through quite yet.

Check out screencaps from the show here.

  1. Thank you for sharing this! I have never seen it, which isn't too shocking, since getting BBC stuff in the States is sometimes difficult (especially if you're a poor American).

  2. Don't keel badly about not having seen this all the way through. I'd find it really tough to watch all at once unless I were loaded. It's kind of like watching people tripping when you aren't tripping - difficult to catch on.

  3. I have a version of this which was taped from the TV on a Welsh channel. I don't know how it worked but the channel left a card up and the feedback from the last song when on for a long time after the programme had officially finished.
