Hello everyone,
My name is Carrie, and I took a long, long break from running Darklinks.com/Dark Side of the Net. (It’s 32 years old! holy crap! My kids are barely older than this website!)
Part of my stepping back was the Internet getting more toxic, with nasty comments and rude emails from people mad that I wouldn’t add their non-goth website to my list of goth sites; part of it was how very many lazy people stole my content and passed it off as their own.
For about a decade I was a busy single aunt helping raise my orphaned nephews, taking care of my two energetic retriever dogs, running a business, and learning new content creator skills. That didn’t leave a lot of time for fun hobbies like running a goth blog.
I do wish I’d gotten my video confidence sooner and created a YouTube channel years ago to share my goth hobbies and passions, but I didn’t. There are so many great goth YouTube channels now, and I can’t wait to discover more and share them with you here along with my other links and discoveries.
I quit working on Dark Side of the Net for a while, but I did keep busy with my other projects:
I don’t put a lot of time into those either at the moment, but I do pop in to update their Facebook and Instagram pages from time to time. I’m not sure if blogging is dead and I’m just moving everything to social media and Youtube or what. I love, love, loved building a small community at Dark Side University, and I’m exploring ways that AI might help me recreate that now that there are so many tools to help me.
I did start a new “dark lists” resource over on Benable. (It’s a new website sort of like Pinterest, but with lists of cool things). I’m wondering if that’s a great place to keep all the lists of websites I love creating so much. Take a look and follow me over there if you are a listmaker too. (Need an invite? Here’s mine).
I can’t promise I’ll update this blog very often now that I’m a busy eldergoth grandma, have a new puppy and lots of content creation projects, but let’s see what happens!
Thank you for reading this and possibly for bookmarking the site again, and welcome back to the Dark Side of the Net.
-Carrie
