How to Submit Your Goth Site for Link Consideration

Please do not send me press releases! They are too long, usually off topic, and get deleted. Also, please do not add me to your mailing list just because I linked to you. If I am interested in your mailing list, I'll find it and sign up for it. Thanks!

Email me at ccarriecc @ yahoo.com with your webpage's name/title, http:// web address, and the category your site fits in. I'll need all 3 of those things.

The following tips will help you get linked, and help save me time, which also will help other people's pages be linked faster too!

• Reading the FAQ helps both of us. Please read it!

• Please, please, a thousand times please, only send your URL once. I already get enough email that says "I sent my site in a week ago but didn't hear back. Here's my url." Sending your URL in more than once slows me down, making it harder for everybody's pages to get linked in a timely fashion, and can jeopardize your site being linked at all. Please be aware that it may take up to three months to be linked. This is mostly due to the overwhelming amount of email I get.

• Make sure your site definitely fits into one of my categories/topics. To browse my categories, go to Dark Side of the Net's front page. Remember that each url is only linked in ONE category. If your page is about both goths and vampires, you'll have to make a painful decision which one you want it linked under. Make sure to mention the category your site should fit in, in your message. Don't just say "your gothic links" because my entire page IS gothic links. Please be as specific as possible. This will save you literally months of time in getting linked here.

• If your page sells anything, it will ONLY be listed under the Dark Shops categories.

  Stores will be listed here if a MAJORITY of their products are gothic related or "dark", subject to MY interpretation. This is a list of ONLINE stores, not real-world shops. You must have your catalog online, and your products viewable (pictures) and immediately buyable online, to be even remotely considered for a link here.

  Your shop cannot be on a free webhost provider (angelfire, geocities, tripod, etc) but Etsy is ok. A professional business will make the commitment to their company by investing in a decent paid webhost. Please do my visitors the courtesy of having a professional, committed, licensed business for them to shop from.

• Check for broken image icons on your page - a sure way to convince me you are not ready for public viewing is to have broken images, dead links to your own pages, etc. Check your pages on someone else's computer and browser. This may point out some broken image icons, nasty browser-crashing Javascript, too-small or too-big fonts, broken internal links, and formatting problems that may not show up on your own computer.
