Your advertising dollars go directly and get used immediately to pay for bandwidth, the Darklinks Ezboard, giveaways, gifts for volunteers, promotion costs, office supplies, postage, legal costs, magazines for research, computer books, software, and other expenditures directly related to maintaining a website of this size and scope.
To advertise on Dark Side of the Net, your store should sell a related product (music, posters, comics, clothing, books, jewelry, etc) of interest to goths, horror fans, vampire fans, or other alternative scene type people.
Traffic information: http://www.darklinks.com/index.html gets somewhere between 2500 and 3000 unique visitors per day. (The actual hitcount is closer to 25000 to 30000 but that is more a measure of how many graphics and whatnot I have on the page, not actual pairs of eyeballs viewing the page).
The advertising rate for a week on http://www.darklinks.com/index.html is $20.
I also on occasion sell $15 combination ads on Dark Art A-M which gets somewhere between 300-600 unique visitors per day and New Links page which gets 300-600 per day. Two of your banners would run, one on each page, for a combined estimate of 600-1200 viewers per day. This could be a good way to try out a small ad and see how it goes.

Banner ads must be 468x60 (standard banner size) and less than 40k in filesize. I try to keep the main page under 100k for fast loading times. Please check first before submitting an animated ad.
It's recommended that your banner ad clearly displays your webpage's URL, so that visitors who might not click on it right now, may remember your page's domain name and visit at a later time.
